The choice I have narrowed down to is the Linn Ikemi (retail $3595) as I prefer rythmic detail sound with excellent low level resolution. Regardless of how well car manufacturers deliver on this promise, Linn has managed to carve out its niche in the sub-$2000 CD player market. The Genki does not disappoint – it offers excellent value with some of the same technology from its pricier siblings, the Ikemi and Sondek 12.

I the purchased the Ikemi after in home trials of the Genki and Ikemi. At first I thought, nope the Genki is the equivelant in sound the Ikemi is just higher due to features. Then the Ikemi settled in the second day with the cables and the Genki went back to the dealer. This player maximizes the redbook cd's capability.
